Swiss Alp Dance Club: 85 Years Old and Still Dancing

The Swiss Alp Dance Club is perhaps the oldest dance club within the State of Texas. After 85 years of continuous service, it is still going strong. The club continues, as in the past, to be managed by a board of directors. Its first board chairman was I.J. Cernosek with six other board members. Ben Sustr stepped into the leadership role as board chairman in 1980 and served until January 2013. During those 33 years, the leadership of Ben and his wife, Rene, was instrumental in preserving the principles of the club and promoting it to its current state of excellence. Today, James Freytag serves as chairman of the board along with 12 directors.
