CLIFF AND KATIE HERMEL NAMED FIRST FAMILY OF POLKA

Minnesota’s governor, Rudy Perpich, has proclaimed that effective October 1, 1989 and for 365 days thereafter, the year shall be known as “The Year of the Polka,” and that Cliff and Katie Hermel be known as “The First Family of Polka in Minnesota.”

At the Gibbon Ballroom Festival Oct. 14 and 15, Gibbon Mayor Jerry Howe and other officials presented a proclamation to the Hermel family and Mayor Howe said, “The Gibbon Ballroom has represented a major boost for the economy of the Gibbon area. They are the largest part-time employer in the area.”
