Red and Whites Gather on July 9th

This month we celebrate our country and our freedom adorning the colors of red, white, and blue signifying our allegiance to America. We have picnics and parades and parties and dances and lots of fireworks. In other words, we have a lot of fun enjoying being part of our huge American family. We also take time to thank, celebrate, and remember those who have served or are serving to win and sustain our freedom. So let’s fly our colors proudly and celebrate our great America!

Poland, for a European geography refresher is currently bordered on the north by the Baltic Sea, the eastern border is the Ukraine among several smaller former Soviet Union provinces, on the southern border is Slovakia and the Czech Republic, with Germany occupying the western border. With the vaguely defined, constantly changing borders and area names in the mountainous southeast corner over several centuries, ethnicity was unclear if you did not know the exact date you were talking about. The term “polka”, meaning “woman”, has been claimed by Poland. It has also been claimed by the Slavs to refer to the half step which characterizes the polka dance style.
