Recognized as “the longest continuously playing German band outside of Germany,” the Boerne Village Band proudly presents its 160th Anniversary celebration at this year’s Summer Abendkonzertes series in downtown Boerne, Texas.
Hanging out at Spoetzel Brewery where the Shiner Hobos performed during the birthday party for brewery founder Kosmos Spoetzel on Mar. 7 are TPN and polkabeat photographer Karen Kurtz and a couple of new fans of David Kocurek, who graced the cover of our Spring & Summer Fest Guide. At right, TPN fans could be found at Kloesel's Steakhouse in Moulton where the Moravian Woodpeckers were playing on Feb. 15.
Dorothy Mae (Hassmann) Ellebracht, 86, of Schulenburg, passed away peacefully on Feb. 27, 2020. Dorothy was born in Wilson County, on July 6, 1933, daughter of Arthur and Leona (Boldt) Hassmann. Dot graduated from college in 1977 and taught elementary school for 16 years.
April means it’s time for the annual St. Michael’s Springfest in Weimar. The picnic will be held on Sun., Apr. 26 at Veterans Park, just a couple of blocks west of the church.
