I was totin' my pack along the dusty Lavaca County road When along came a pickup with flatbed and canvas covered load. He said "If you're goin' to Shiner, son, I’ll give you a ride," So I climbed up in the cab and then I settled down inside. I asked him if he had ever seen a dance floor with so much sawdust and dance wax as Wied Hall, And he replied, "Listen, bud, I've danced every floor in this here land, I've been everywhere, man, I've been everywhere, man, I've crossed the deserts bare, man, Breathed the mountain air, man, Dancing, I've had my share, man, We've danced everywhere.
We've danced in Lindenau, Greunau, Yorktown, Dime Box, Rosenberg, Schulenburg, San Antone, Cotton Grove, Pecan Grove, Hollywood Bowl, Wichita, Kansas that is, both New Ulm Texas and Minnesota.
Victor and Mildred (Michalke) Sternadel danced together on over 221 different dance floors in their SEVENTY-TWO years of marriage. This writer met the couple at a dance at the Round Top Rifle Hall in January 2017. After a nice slow dance Mildred leaned over and kissed Victor on the cheek. All hearts in the hall melted.
