Tyler Prasifka: From College Station to Moravians

Most polka fans know Tyler Prasi›a as the trumpet player for Th e Moravians (see cover story). However, lots of people are unaware of how the Czech trumpeteer got his foot in the door of polka or how it all began for him.

College Station is located smack dab in the middle of Navasota and Bryan. The town is known as the location of Texas A&M University (Tyler is actually an alumnus of the school). For Tyler, it's simply his birthplace.

"I was born there but we moved a few times and finally settled in Waxahachie," Tyler recalled. "Life was pretty normal growing up there. I loved playing baseball and working the cows at my grandparents place."
