Mike Brinkmeyer, Music is The Gift
Lots of modern artists have abandoned the steel guitar from their repertoire. However, with Mike Brinkmeyer, that is not the case. Mike has been the steel guitar player for the "Telstars" since 1976 and he and the band are still going strong.
Before he became a musician, Mike came from traditional upbringing. Like a lot of Texans, Mike grew up in a small town where playing baseball was the ultimate hobby.
"I was actually born in Brenham, the town both my parents called home," Mike remarked. "Then, we moved to Houston when I was around 3 years old. Most of my childhood memories evolve around growing up in Oak Forest, on Houston’s northwest side and doing all the wholesome things boys did in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s; collecting baseball cards (now worth thousands of dollars), riding bikes all over creation, and playing baseball in the street. I had lots of freedom back then as a kid, just as long as I was home when the street lights came on!"
